
On 21st March 2015, an Artist Talk session was held in JCC , as part of the “Balance in Imperfection” Exhibition by Temasek Potters. For guests who were keen on the works of Potters Hibi Takashi and Mami Kato had the opportunity to dive in deeper into the artist’s realm. Potter Hibi Takashi’s insights: A master in glazing, Mr. Hibi taught at Tajima City Pottery Design and Technical Centre, a well respected institution for Tougei (ceramics).
He has over 50 years of experience in this field and is currently teaching pottery in private. From the history of tougei,pottery to the importance of ceramics in our daily lives, his insights on ceramics captivated all the guests as they could clearly see the passion he exuded.
Artist Mami Kato, an awarding Ceramist based in Tokoname City Aichi Prefecture, Japan has held countless exhibitions around the world. During the Artist Talk session, she shared her experience in creating pottery from organic earth. She showed pictures of her digging for earth to firing her masterpieces, which left the audience truly inspired.
